The mission of the West Virginia Woodturners Association, Inc. is to educate both woodturners and the public, in and about the art and craft of woodturning. This mission will be accomplished by encouraging and facilitating the establishment of training programs for woodturners; by disseminating information about sources of material and equipment; by exposing the art and craft of woodturning to the public; to serve as a center of information about woodturning for members, galleries, local businesses, the general public and other interested groups; and advance the woodturners heritage and history, by encouraging our local woodturning artisans and businesses to create and sell turned wooden products today that will become tomorrows Heritage and History.
The West Virginia Woodturners Association is a local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) and intended for woodturners of all skill levels. We highly encourage beginning turners to attend as well as seasoned turners. WVWA has a lot to offer all our members.
Membership gives you the opportunity to make new friends, learn new turning techniques and share your ideas with other members. It enables us to come together as a group and afford top named demonstrators and manufacturers to present information on products and techniques. We offer a Mentoring Program to pair up members just learning to turn with our more experienced ones. We also provide an AAW sponsered "Youth Turning Program" to offer younger turners structured education, hands on training, and the practical skills from experienced turners. Youth members will be awarderd various titles as they progress from a "Novice" to "Advanced Youth Turner" level.
WVWA meets at 10am on the fourth Saturday of each month at Tamarack: "The best of WV" in Beckley, WV. Each meeting contains demonstrations, giveaways, "show and tell", and much more.
If you haven't already renewed your membership to our fine Association, it's that time.
NOTE: WVWA is now a 501(c)3 Nonprofit organization. Any membership fees and donations are tax deductable.
If you would like to join the West Virginia Woodturners Association please see the Membership Application link on this page. We hope to see you soon. The Public is always invited and welcome to attend.
